The final installment of Care Pakistan's Focus Pakistan - Film Season will be held this Thursday at Asia House in London with screenings of '100 steps' and 'Song of Lahore'.

Directed by student Oscar-nominated Shahnawaz Zali, 100 Steps (or Sou Qadam) charts the story of a vulnerable young boy who is targeted by Islamic extremists and pulled into the world of suicide bombings. Zali: "I chose this subject because these things exist and it's happening all around us. I believe that for a nation to progress, we must first acknowledge and accept the fact that there is a problem. Once the problem is identified, we can then all work toward solving it."

Song of Lahore by two-time Oscar winner Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy follows Pakistani jazz band Sachal Studios as they venture to New York City to perform their sitar and tabla reinterpretations of jazz standards with Wynton Marsalis at Lincoln Center. As the producers note: "Despite their rising international acclaim, Sachal Studios remains virtually unknown in Pakistan. The ensemble is faced with a daunting task; to reclaim and reinvigorate an art that has lost its space in Pakistan’s narrowing cultural sphere."

Both films will be screened on Thursday 22nd February from 6.45pm at Asia House, London.
